Shelf Sightings | Majorette at Sixty

They say, better late than never. Finally, a new Majorette assortment celebrating 60 years of the brand has started rolling out at Toy Kingdom stores these past weeks. Majorette has been celebrating the brand’s anniversary early this year, but the local releases in the Philippines were not as updated as some would entirely expect with its distributor at the same time the lack of new stock on the pegs.

It may not be a bit late for Majorette’s presence in the local retail, but it sure is being included as one of the die-cast brands featured at the event center for the weekend beside the Toy Kingdom flagship store in SM Megamall.

It would be considered an underrated promotion having a quiet celebration due to the lack of space for its celebratory display. But not all is lost in the display that can be found outside the store. The main display is a bigger space even called “underrated” with a fresh new assortment of anniversary colours that will certainly catch your attention. Sure, there are other popular die-cast brands out there. But you can bet the French-based die-cast toy brand to make a splash for those who follow the brand.

The basic and premium Japan Series is certainly getting immediate attention when the locals only after JDM (Japanese Domestic Market) cars as that’s what some only know when it comes to die-cast. But there are other types of vehicles Majorette has included in their anniversary that some would get a kick out of nostalgia as that’s mostly the ones that catch the adult collector’s eyes from growing up having their first Majorette cars from their childhood is something the brand is banking on.

Anniversary and Japan Series Editions

There are also special 5-packs of Japanese Series that Majorette has put together including the premium editions that are quite challenging to find in their single cards. It is a sure pick-up without the need to look for the most coveted JDM for your collection. Of course, there’s the regular release but the interesting part for this set is they’re “anime-style” with cell shading that must be a first for the brand.

The main assortments that bring out the best for Majorette are the Anniversary Editions, which feature a basic assortment, and premium editions which include their metal containers. There are a plethora of vehicles that might catch your attention with all the retro colours that certainly call out some of the best years for Majorette including some old logos from the 80s and 90s that speaks again with nostalgia.

Here’s a list of single-carded assortment with pricing, including the multipack sets that were sighted in this store.

  • Anniversary Editions (Basic) - ₱ 399.00 Pesos ($ 10.13 AUD | $ 6.84 USD)
  • Anniversary Editions (Premium) - ₱ 499.00 Pesos ($ 12.67 AUD | $ 8.56 USD)

Restocks, Playsets, and More/b>

Of course, the regular assortments continue to be restocked including the ones that most consumers are looking forward to but missed out on the first releases are now available again and it is certainly quite a sight seeing them on the pegs fresh and ready to be picked up by those who were never able to get them on their releases from last year namely the Volkswagen series depicting them with their surfboards and camper-type setups.

Lastly, a new playset for the younger demographic is certainly going to save up as early as now for their Christmas wish to be in their collection. There are a lot more Majorette assortments that can be found at the flagship store of Toy Kingdom and the Anniversary Editions are slowly becoming available at other branches too without the need to travel far just to hunt o for it.
