River Adventures | Coyote 500

Matchbox has produced some of the unlicensed casting going back to the brand’s debut in 1953. Some of these designs have been mainly inspired by concepts or are futuristic in aesthetics that they can be translated into becoming real-life vehicles that you may see in car shows or special events.

Some of these Matchbox Originals are worldly made with fantasy in mind or inspired to be concepts that can be turned into actual vehicles. The Coyote 500 is one such casting that is produced with an all-terrain design that can be used for the desert, jungle, or the most challenging terrain that was designed for.

The River Adventures 5-pack released in 2017 includes some of the vehicles that can take the challenge of every terrain it was set out for. Of course, this includes vehicles that can be pushed to their limits based on their concept design and the majority of this set are Matchbox Originals or unlicensed.

It is worth noting that this included the Coyote 500, which is an all-terrain vehicle suitable to the theme that has to do with the river and the surrounding environment. This casting has been around since its debut under the Outdoor Sportsman segment and originally was categorized as part of a series of vehicles.

Armoured Off-Roader

This original casting lasted until 2017 with its release as part of the 5-pack, and the very last release was under the Color Changers series from 2019. Its design is sort of a cross between a Hummer and a Baja desert armoured vehicle as having fenders part of its metal body at the same time having a rear storage compartment.

The casting is made of three parts as standard for modern Matchbox vehicles. The rear storage with all the cargo is part of the window's green tint, while the plastic is coloured yellow having a white interior that you could hardly notice due to the green tint that also gives you difficulty in analyzing the cargo on its rear part of the car.

This vehicle is a Matchbox Original by Matchbox.

Key Features of the Coyote 500 below:

  • Year Release: 2017 | River Adventures 5-Pack
  • Base Color: Light Blue | Metal
  • Window: Green Tint
  • Rear Storage: Part of Window
  • Tampo: RIVER RATTERS, 92 | Unpainted Roof Fog Lights/Rear light details
  • Interior: White

River Ratter

There have been several versions of the Unimog that Matchbox has ever produced with the majority of the other models as part of Jurassic World-themed vehicles. But this one has been a stand-out due to its very familiar look that has never come close to being part of the series. But there’s a prototype casting that never became available that features the deco/livery from the vehicles appearing in Jurassic World.

This new colour for 2017 in its tan metal body with the interior and mid-part of the truck in brown that is also the interior, while the base that holds it together that has a built-in tow/hitch is in light grey is also made of plastic., the casting is 60% plastic and 40% metal with a light tint window is one of the rare castings that manage to be well-detailed despite some of the Matchbox’s castings are retooled or retired due to the design can’t be changed.

Overall, the Coyote 500 is not the usual car that you take to the streets. Rather, a vehicle designed for off-road works for its advantage compared to vehicles that are more for the urban streets than taking on the gravel, sand, or any touger terrain.

It is not a popular casting because of is designed for a specific theme, namely the beach, desert, or someplace an all-terrain vehicle can flourish like a wild animal in its environment. The reason it is not a hit for some die-cast collectors is that lacks the luxury style. But this car is big on its function for a true outdoor sportsman.

Coyote 500 is a Matchbox Original, which is part of the River Adventurts 5-pack released in 2017, which was acquired during a special 20% off sale at Kids Depot last May 2023 in Ayala Malls Market Market for ₱ 640.20 Pesos ($ 17.63 | $ 11.29 USD**). Matchbox is distributed in the Philippines by Richwell Club.
